How it works

  1. Select or drag a .heic photo from your iPhone.
  2. Pick a quality level. The default (85%) is what most online HEIC to JPG converters use behind the scenes.
  3. The file is decoded in your browser using WebAssembly and saved as a JPG.
  4. Click download. The filename stays the same, just with a .jpg extension.

What you should know

Supported input

HEIC and HEIF files — the photo format used by iPhone since iOS 11 (2017). Drag a single file or tap to browse.

Output

JPG (JPEG). One quality setting of your choice, applied when the browser saves the file. No other output format is offered on this page.

How quality is calculated

The quality percentage controls the JPEG compression level, passed directly to the browser's native canvas encoder. 95% keeps more detail and produces a larger file. 75% produces a smaller file with slightly more visible compression artifacts. 85% is the balanced default — it is the level most HEIC to JPG converters apply without telling you.

What "processed locally" means

Your HEIC file is decoded inside your browser using a WebAssembly port of the libheif library. It never leaves your device. No server receives it, stores it, or processes it. There is no upload step. This page works even with no internet connection after the first load.

FAQ

What is HEIC?

HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the image format Apple uses for photos taken on iPhone since iOS 11. HEIC files use better compression than JPG — roughly half the file size at the same visual quality — but not all devices and apps can open them. Converting HEIC to JPG makes your photos compatible everywhere.

Is this HEIC to JPG converter free?

Yes. No account, no payment, no watermark. The conversion runs entirely in your browser using WebAssembly.

HEIC to JPG or HEIC to JPEG — what is the difference?

None. JPG and JPEG are two file extensions for the same image format. Whether you search for "heic to jpg" or "heic to jpeg," the output is identical. This tool outputs standard JPEG files with a .jpg extension.

How is this different from other HEIC to JPG converters?

Most online converters upload your photo to a server, process it there, then send it back. This tool decodes HEIC directly in your browser. Your photo never leaves your device. There is no signup wall, no batch limit, no daily limit, and the quality setting is visible — not hidden behind a paywall.

Can I convert heic to jpg on my phone?

Yes. This page works in mobile browsers. The file picker and download button are sized for touch. Open this page in Safari or Chrome on your phone, select a HEIC photo, and download the JPG.

Does the conversion keep my photo's metadata (EXIF)?

No. This tool outputs a clean JPG without EXIF metadata. The original resolution and image quality are preserved according to the quality setting you choose, but camera model, GPS location, and timestamp data are not carried over to the output file.
