HEIC to JPG

About this site

HEIC to JPG is an independent utility site made by the small team behind the HEIC to JPG tool. It is not affiliated with Apple Inc. or with any other company. We publish under the site name, not under personal names.

What it does

It converts HEIC and HEIF photos — the format iPhones have used since iOS 11 — into ordinary JPG files that open anywhere. You pick a file, choose a quality level, and download a JPG.

Why it runs in your browser

Most online HEIC converters work by uploading your photo to someone else's server, converting it there, and sending it back. That means a private photo leaves your phone and sits on a machine you do not control.

This site does not work that way. The HEIC decoder — a JavaScript build of the open-source libheif library — is downloaded to your device once, and the decoding happens on your device. Your photo is never transmitted to us. There is no upload step at all.

We built it this way because it is the only version of this tool we would want to use ourselves.

What it costs and how it is funded

The converter is free, with no account, no daily limit, and no watermark. Running the site has real hosting costs. We intend to cover those costs with advertising in the future; our privacy policy states this plainly and is updated before anything changes.
